15. ⛏ Destroy it

«What is an important truth that the people around you mostly disagree with?» Is a famous question from Peter Thiel, the answer to which could be a great seed for the next explosive post.

When interviewing a candidate for a particular position, renowned entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel likes to ask the question:

⚔️
«What is an important truth that the people around you mostly disagree with?»

–––––––[excerpt from the book "From Zero to One" by Peter Thiel]–––––––––––

The question seems simple due to its directness. But in fact, it is very difficult to answer it. It is complicated primarily from an intellectual point of view: of course, everyone agrees with the truths that we learned in school. But it is also difficult psychologically: everyone who tries to answer it will have to express a deliberately unpopular consideration.

The most common answers I have heard are:

  • Our education system is dysfunctional and needs urgent correction.
  • America is an exceptional country
  • There is no god

These are bad answers. The first and second statements are in principle correct, but many people agree with them. The third statement is just the opinion of one of the parties in an endless dispute.

«The best answers bring us as close to the future as possible,» says Peter Thiel. And I'm saying good answers bring us closer to launching a new viral idea or post. 😈

A good answer would look something like this:

⚠️
«Most people think that X, but in fact the truth is Y The conclusion is: Z».

Many channels are built on this storytelling scheme of refuting and destroying obsolete truths (and readers love them, including you)

Take for example the dark side, number one

Fuck proportionality

1. Ordinary people are used to the fact that the result is proportional to the effort. If you want to earn more, work more. Twelve hours instead of eight, two jobs instead of one. And so in everything - the more, the more.

2. An entrepreneur is a person who is convinced that the world is disproportionate. He knows that there is twenty percent of the effort that can bring eighty percent of the result.

3. The conclusion is simple. The entrepreneur is no longer working to get a result proportional to the effort expended. And to quickly find those twenty percent.

Try to take a statement and destroy it, and explain why. Taste the power!
